Sunday Tournament: Locals

Another weekend comes by, and another Yugioh tournament to attend.

I just can't believe I didn't go to yesterday's tournament. My will to not sit on a bus for an hour beats out my want to Yugioh.

:\

So on to today!

Playing my latest deck, Scraps, which I believe is unbeatable in the right hands.

There was a big showing today, only about 8 or 9 players, and half of them were pretty noobish, with uncompleted decks and whatnot.

But hey, it's summer.

Some of the key things I saw today during the tournament:

1) Breaker is actually useful in Scraps. Not mained IMO, but sided. As a rather offensive card, it forces Warning and other traps.

2) Dimensional Prison is rather boss. Play with it wisely.

3) Chaining Scrapstorm to Dimensional Fissure means you get a Scrap Dragon. Don't be an idiot and not chain it.

I'm an idiot and didn't chain it.

Well, there's one new move I learned today. If I knew earlier, I would of been First instead of Second :(

The Turbo Pack 5s were rather nice. I pulled a Snowman Eater, while 1st pulled Colossal and Laquari.

Those could of been mine...(>.<)

Just goes to show that if you think you're pro, you need more practice to keep learning.

Thanks for reading the post!

T.G. Recipro Dragonfly

Yesterday's post concerned the recent changes to the TCG about the Colossal Fighter-Armory Arm OTK loop.

In thinking about this and looking things up around the internet, I came across a video which showed that while the Colossal Fighter's usefulness in Fish OTK has vanished, Armory Arm has not.

And this is because Recipro Dragonfly exists.

Yes. The Level 2 non-tuner Synchro monster.

Thanks to this card, the burn from Armory Arm still can be utilized.

The video went on to show how this combo is formed, to which I will briefly summarize.

From the Coelacanth, your bring out two Oyster Meisters and two Fishborg Blasters.

You make two Armory Arms, and get two Level 1 tokens. From here you equip the Armory Arms to your opponent's monster.

Discard a card for Fishborg and make Formula Synchron, then discard the card you drew and make Recipro Dragonfly.

This leads to a 3rd Armory Arm.

The rest is easy to do.

Slam your Coelacanth into their monster and watch as they take 2800*3 damage.

Good game.

Will Fish OTK decks utilize this method of winning?

Seems better than running the risk of hitting a Gorz / Battle Fader, I suppose.

The Big News : Armory Arm OTK

As I'm sure you've all heard, the Armory Arm and Colossal Fighter OTK no longer works!

Taken straight from a post from Kevin Tewart on the TCG judge forum, Armory Arm's new wording makes it such that Armory Arm cannot deal the damage unless the monster stays in the graveyard at the resolution of its effect.

Building the chain up:

Chain Link 1 : Armory Arm
Chain Link 2: Colossal Fighter

As you can probably see, Colossal Fighter won't be in the graveyard, and thus Armory Arm cannot create this OTK.

Two Colossal Fighters still OTK though, although who has space for Colossal, let alone two?

These OTK which Infernity, and Fish OTK had before is now long gone from the TCG! (hopefully...)

This will be good for the TCG. Finally, this ruling has been matched to the OCG.

Now it's time to wait for the change to Ignition effects...

Revival of the Blog!

It's been quite a long time since I've had a blog post, but I figured that I might as well restart contributing.

Lately, it's been boring in my life, and as such, with the pestering of a friend, it's time for MonarchVV's blog to begin anew!

Lots of things have changed in both the TCG and OCG since I've stopped blogging a while ago, but I'm pretty sure everyone would of noticed that already.

I'll be mainly posting about Yugioh, if you couldn't tell that this was a Yugioh blog, but feel free to follow me as you wish.

Posts will be somewhat spontaneously, although I'll usually make a post whenever something about Yugioh comes to mind (or when I'm rather bored.)

Thanks again for following me!

Time for a Vacation

And that vacation is something known as University Final Exams.

I'll be on a 2 week hiatus as you know...I can't think about games for roughly the next 3 weeks.

It won't be long, for sure, but definitely, expect more posts to come!

Anyways, thanks for reading this post as always!

Yugioh 5ds Movie Pack

I find it kind of funny how the TCG Movie pack comes out three days before the OCG movie pack.

Konami America is surely getting faster and faster at releasing those OCG cards.

Star Battle

No, I'm not talking about my Starship deck.

I am talking about a Starcraft 2 custom map game.

It involves a ton of air battles, and I must say, is just as intense as the normal League games.

I've played it a few times, and it's crazy fun!

There is a reason it's the most played Custom map on the EU servers.

~~~
Something yugioh-related to end this.
While we are talking about the Europeans, and I'm sure you have already heard this, but it's always good to reinforce this point.
In official competitions in Europe, the Shonen Jump promotion cards are not available for use.
Meaning Hundred-Eyes Dragon cannot be used.
Goodbye Infernities.
In Europe at least. =\
